Druk op pauze bij stress
Stress, zoals koude en zout stress, beïnvloeden de groei van planten. Niet alleen tijdens de stress maar ook gedurende de herstelfase. Nu laten Canadese onderzoekers zien hoe gedurende de stress planten hun celdeling op pauze zetten, en herstartten nadat de stress verwijderd is.
Inheriting mitochondria
Like most eukaryotes, plants get their mitochondria from one of their parents. Most often it is the maternal line that provides them. Now a group of international researchers found out that in tobacco (Nicotiana tabacum) paternal mitochondria slip through more often than first thought.
